The Forresters – Skindeep

Masterminded by Antony Bautovich, out of the Orange Humble Band’s international all-star line-up, this debut album will ease your hunger while waiting for new releases by the mentioned ‘Band or the Velvet Crush.

Just like these two, The Forresters use a perfect doze of Americana, blending it with all things pop (Are You Ready, Outtamyhead, The Way You Do…), perfectly balancing between the two genres.

Sometimes it’s the former that’s prevailing, like heard in the countryfied “tracharach” Tremblin’ or Don’t Leave Me Down and sometimes it’s pure-pop in charge, as in Fool In Love.

Occasionally, they tend to rock-out a classic ‘70s “free-faced”-chord or two (Wake Up, Rescue Me) and then again, they even throw in some cool jazzy moments into What You Want, once again graced with the Bacharachian horn line.

In my “orange” humble opinion, it goes kinda downhill after the first half of the album, but it’s that very half that makes it more than worth having!
