Ten You May Have Missed In 2014

January 4, 2015 Gary Pig Gold 2

When not deep down in the basement with Dylan’s 11th Bootleg Series, or in the studio as Mike Nesmith bravely barks orders at the Wrecking Crew on that Super Deluxe version of the first Monkees […]

It surely was one of those years, wasn’t it? And I may not just be speaking musically either. For example, two blasts from the distant past (Simply Saucer and, yes, Percy “Thrills” Thrillington) resurfaced after […]

The Monkees "The Girl I Knew Somewhere" / "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You" [RCA Victor, 66-1004], 1967.

Swedish release. Notice that on the cover Michael Nesmith song "The Girl I Knew Somewhere" has been chosen as "a-side". This change was also done in Germany with similar cover, though the Swedish release has a different rear (second picture). As far as I know, this was one of two the Monkees singles where the record was made in Sweden.

This was the first released/recorded song containing instruments performed by the band members. Originally recorded with Nesmith on lead vocals, but a later version was recorded with Micky Dolenz replacing Nesmith.
